Watch “Writing Music like” on YouTube

What do you do when you get tired of singing other people’s songs?

You write your own!!🤗

Sometimes the best song you could ever sing is your own!!

No one else can tell your story like you do. In fact someone might just be needing to hear your story in order to be encouraged to continue walking out their own story.

If God is the driver shouldn’t we be the car and not the passenger?

As I was talking with God this morning and began to utter a very common phrase I say often and hear others say often,

“God you are the driver, I’m just the passenger……”,

only this time it didn’t sound as appealing as the times before.

Something in my spirit said “NO”. If God is the driver shouldn’t you be the car?

Let’s dissect this whole Driver, passenger, car situation!

The Driver: The driver is definitely the Superior out of the three. The driver is independent of the passenger and the car. The driver is the brains, the leader, the operator of the entire driving operation. The driver’s position is not casual but meaningful and purposeful with the intent to drive, go, move forward, lead, direct or guide.

The Passenger: The passenger isn’t needed. The passenger is disposable. The driver and the car can still get the job done without the passenger. The passenger’s position is so passive, casual and non-intentional.

The Car: The car would exist without the driver or passenger but without the driver, the car wouldn’t be effective. The car is able to maintain its effectiveness by relying solely on the driver to gas it, wash it, repair it when needed and guide it. The car is in full submission to wherever the driver sends it.

So why then do we consider ourselves the passenger and not the car?

Gods pursuit of us is so intentional. He doesn’t need us, he wants us. We actually need him yet don’t want him. At least that’s what we unintentionally say with our actions and dumb phrases such as “God you be the driver and I will be the passenger”.

Are you the passenger, just in it for the ride or are you the actual car: the instrument being used to fulfill an actual purpose? Maybe you have been trying to be driver vs the car?

Well regardless of how you answered those questions, YOU WERE CREATED TO BE MORE THAN A PASSENGER. YOU ARE THE CAR, THE INSTRUMENT BEING USED TO BRING THE GOOD NEWS TO POINT A TO POINT B. THE DRIVER IS THE MAIN ATTRACTION NOT YOU. THE DRIVER IS THE ONE WHO SHOULD BE SEEN NOT YOU. THE DRIVER GETS OUT THE CAR AND GOES OUT INTO THE WORLD AND REDEEMS THINGS ULTIMATELY NOT YOU. YOU ARE VITAL AND CO DEPENDANT ON THE DRIVER.

However, when the Holy Spirit of truth comes, He will lead you [apostles] into all the truth. He will not speak on His own authority but will speak [only] what He hears [from the Father]. And He will tell you about the things that are to come. John 16:13

Is It Time For A New Diet Plan?

There is a co-worker of mine who comes to work with four meals that are typically the same thing. Each individual meal will consist of a certain kind meat, veggies, and carbs. All contents of the container are mixed together and he eats them throughout the workday. The food in the container looks disgusting but he faithfully eats only the food he prepared in these containers. No matter how much food my other co-workers and I may buy, this particular guy will ask what we are eating but will never take a bite. He has his food. Not to mention his body is one that is highly commendable, you know that body that some men only dream about lol!

One day I just happened to be watching him eat one of his strange meals and I said,

“That looks like it tastes horrible”.

His response…

“I don’t eat for taste”.

As soon as he spoke those words, I thought to myself hmmmm….that speaks! That spoke to me on so many levels. I wonder how many healthy relationships we would have if we “Didn’t eat for taste” or engage in the company of others because it “Was tasteful and satisfying” vs just sticking to the diet plan God had for us?

I wonder how successful we would be in actually fulfilling our purpose here on earth if we ” Didn’t eat for taste” when it came to choosing careers or making decisions because we would know that what “tastes” good isn’t always good for us. We would know that sometimes our meal plan in our diet may not yield the best-tasting meal, and the people around us may be on a different plan that seemingly looks better than ours but the sacrifice, and self-discipline will bear fruit in the long run if we keep at it because we “Didn’t eat for taste” but we “ate what was asked of us to fulfill our purpose. In due time we will reap the harvest if we stick to the right diet plan.

What have you been feeding yourself lately?

Reality Tv? The latest Drake or Niki Minaj song? Or maybe the club life has been fulfilling? Maybe you have been feeding yourself with truth on Sunday but every other day of the week you are filling yourself up with trash to where the one day you actually did stick to the diet plan can’t even be effective because the bad food outweighed the good food, so the weight that was lifted or lost on Sunday was regained by the end of Saturday because you were busy eating from the wrong diet plan Monday – Saturday!

What Diet plan are you on? Are you making decisions based on appearance and taste or are you feeding yourself with the truth which gives discernment, wisdom & knowledge to eat the correct things and refuse the wrong things?

Is it time for a new diet plan?

“I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.”   John 6:51

For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.      Hebrews 5:12-14

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.   Psalms 34:8

I get it. Its so easy to get distracted and sidetracked by the things of this world but don’t let them pull you off the correct diet plan. Feed yourself with truth, the word of God, prayer, worship, praises and simply being still and listening to that still small voice throughout the day. This is the best meal you will ever taste and I promise it will satisfy your soul!

Silent Agreements become False Realities

I never wanted to be that person who only sought after God during the good times, as long as he was giving me what I wanted but when the bad times came, lost all hope in him. Sadly I see a lot of people go through this cycle, or roller coaster ride with God. Always up and down, back and forth but never steady.

The crazy thing is when I take a step back and examine my own walk with God, I think it’s safe to say I have passed the test of trusting him through the difficult times recognizing through experience & overtime that he knows best. It’s the blessings that confuse me. It’s when he shows up and answer prayers and lavishes his love on me when doubt creeps in. I question him not in the storm but on the mountaintop. How absurd is that?!!

James 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in ALL his ways.

Questions like “Is this real?” Or thoughts such as “This is too good to be true”, kind of floods your mind and before you know it a door was opened and fear walked right on in. We then are discouraged, distracted just enough for God and his perfect love to be removed off the throne of our heart, now overtaken by fear, lies & deceit.

It’s not the thoughts that opened the door, rather the silent agreement made when we didn’t speak truth in those moments of doubt.

We get comfortable and become stagnant as well as complacent in our storm that we self-consciously reject the breakthrough.

The reality is, Yes, we are so undeserving of God’s grace but it’s the receiving of that grace and our faith in Christ that makes us heirs and accepted. It’s our hope in what Christ did on that cross that gives us confidence not only in the storm but more assuredly in the blessing because of the position we held during the storm. We fought humbly on our knees and have found rest in our Papas bosom which in return gave us peace and the confidence needed to boldly face the storm, knowing God is where our help comes from. He is our defender, he is our rock and he is our victor! So we then can be expecting the breakthrough and confidently embrace it when it comes.

Where are you positioned currently? He is the same God during the storm that he is during the blessing/breakthrough.

Know who you are today! You are called and have been chosen. You were bought at high cost. Take your position wisely. Speak the Truth.Don’t be silent. You aren’t an orphan but a daughter/son of the most high. Find rest in him. Receive his love. He’s waiting.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you : my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand

Deuteronomy 31:8 The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged
